Better Together – building back stronger.

The next three years, we will have a clear focus on cyclone recovery. There are bridges, roads and flood infrastructure we will build and repair. On top of that I commit to a clear focus on the basics and making sure we look after every ratepayer cent.

That means:

A Mayor who puts people first – working with and for you.

  • Delivering efficient, quality BAU (business as usual) – focus on core services that make daily life easier.
  • Ensuring efficient operations – we need to cut our cloth and spend wisely.
  • Strengthening resilience - we need to be ready for the future.
  • Championing advocacy for our region – I have great working relationships with politicians on both sides of the Government.
  • Creating a vibrant, welcoming city - a thriving economy depends on a place where people want to live, work, and invest.

Priorities for the Next Term

1. A Strong, Smart Cyclone Recovery

  • We must not only rebuild after recent challenges - we must build back better. That means:
    - Fast-tracking flood protection and resilience measures to protect
    homes, businesses, and infrastructure.
    - Securing investment in smart infrastructure - roads, bridges, and
essential services that keep our region connected and thriving.
    - Supporting businesses, tourism, and local industries to drive
    economic growth.

2. Strategic Leadership & Accountability

  • Be your voice - I work for and alongside you.
  • Bring our new Councillor group together - strong leadership ensures a cohesive, effective Council focussed on the real issues.
  • Fight for Tairāwhiti on the national stage - ensuring we get the funding, investment, and recognition we deserve.
  • Be financially responsible and transparent - keeping rates affordability at the forefront of decision-making.

3. Climate & Environmental Action

  • Focus on regional climate leadership—build on net-zero actions.
  • Progress our land-use transition
  • Secure our water supply—for drinking, agriculture, and business sustainability.
  • Work towards a zero-waste region—investing in smarter recycling and waste reduction solutions.

4. Smart Infrastructure & Housing

  • Support housing growth—ensuring the right infrastructure is in place to support development.
  • Modernise planning rules— having fit-for-purpose District and Regional Plans to support our people and protect our environment.

Let’s continue building a Tairāwhiti that works for everyone, together.

I am standing for re-election because I believe in Tairāwhiti’s potential, and I am committed to ensuring we recover, grow, and thrive together. With experience, energy, and a deep love for our community, I will continue to lead with purpose—so that our region is not just surviving but flourishing.
